The Oxford University Ceilidh Band is a society of the University of Oxford whose members share a love of folk music.

We meet in a friendly rehearsal environment on Tuesday evenings, where students can learn tunes from across the British Isles and further afield from our curated folder of sheet music (or by ear!), with occasional workshops from some of our more experienced members. We’re open to all instruments and abilities, regardless of prior experience and musical background. Our Tuesday rehearsal is followed by a session at the Royal Blenheim, where you can join us for some more tunes and/or a drink! We provide a great entry point to the Oxford folk scene for anyone and everyone wanting to get involved.

We’re also available to hire for ceilidhs in the Oxford area—we’ll put together a band of some of our members, plus our own caller, and play for college events, birthday parties, weddings and more. As a student band, we primarily take bookings in walking/cycling distance of Oxford city centre, and during (or close to) Oxford term time. We also take on a limited number of charity ceilidh bookings. Our booking form can be found here.
